About

 Meet the Owner:  Rob Carpenter

My name is Rob Carpenter, and I’m the proud owner of Rob’s Mobile Detailing (“RMD”). I’m a husband, a “dog dad,” and a small business owner with nearly a decade of experience. When I’m not working on cars—a rare occasion these days—I enjoy spending time with my wife and dog, hitting the gym, and occasionally proving on the golf course that I was never destined to be a professional athlete.

I take pride in hard work, honesty, and a willingness to learn, whether the lessons are easy or challenging. While I believe perfection itself is oftentimes unattainable, I believe in its pursuit and that investing time, energy, and resources into self-improvement always pays off. My life is guided by “The Golden Rule”: to treat others and their property with honesty, respect, and care—always striving to do even better than I would for myself.

 OUR PROMISE

At RMD, we are not here to be the cheapest option - to run our operation legitimately and to achieve our future goals, we simply cannot compete solely on price. What I can promise, however, is that we will work effortlessly to provide you with unparalleled value and an exceptional service experience, regardless of what you drive or what service you book. When you book a service with RMD you will be met with professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. If you are considering using a detail service, please consider RMD. You won't be disappointed.

Our Story

I’ve always had an appreciation for structure and order, likely thanks to my parents. That tendency showed itself early—whether detailing a family friend’s boat at 14 (so I could enjoy a clean ride!) or obsessively keeping my first car, a 2011 Honda Civic, spotless. What began as a hobby quickly gained attention from family and neighbors, leading to steady referrals. Back then, I was folding the seats down in the Civic and loading as much as I possibly could fit in the backseat of the car to travel to my clients. In 2016, while finishing my Accounting degree at The University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), I left my job at Apple to turn my passion into a full-time business. Although I hoped for more flexibility, I quickly discovered that running your own business often means working nonstop. During my final years at UGA, I focused on learning the fundamentals of business and Accounting while completing my degree. I also secured a contract with the Department of Housing to service their fleet of 20+ vehicles and gained clients in Athens. By this point, I’d outgrown my Civic and upgraded to a 2009 F150 with a cargo trailer to handle the growing demands of the business.

RMD's '23  Ford Transit

Since incorporating the business nearly a decade ago, I’ve consistently reinvested in its growth, focusing on improving efficiency and raising the standard of quality. In 2021, I opened a fixed location in Alpharetta, hoping to take on additional jobs during early mornings and evenings outside of mobile work. However, the shop proved unprofitable and closed in early 2024. I redirected the cash flow to expand the fleet, adding a Transit van that is currently being built out to significantly enhance efficiency. With two fully equipped vehicles capable of operating simultaneously, I’m excited about the potential to scale RMD’s operations in the near future.

Favorite car?

I've had a soft spot for American Muscle cars for as long as I can remember, especially Mustangs. I enjoyed learning about the legacy and rivalry among manufacturers, I appreciated that they were and are still largely made in American factories, and I appreciate that they are priced so that average everyday working Americans could acquire one with a little bit of saving and hard-work. Several years ago, I was fortunate enough to acquire my first Mustang, a 2017 GT— complete with a 6-Speed manual, of course! If I had to choose a favorite car, it would undoubtedly be a Mustang, though I wouldn’t claim it’s the “best” car.

As for my favorite vehicle I’ve worked on? That’s impossible to decide. I’ve had the privilege of detailing everything from hand-built, beautifully restored air-cooled Porsches to multi-million-dollar Ferraris, helicopters, and ski boats. Yet, some of the most rewarding projects have been the seemingly ordinary, daily-driven vehicles. Every car tells a story, and it’s a privilege to be a part of preserving that.
